Birds of Goa

Besides picturesque landscapes, hils, plateaus, marshes, beaches, temples, churches Goa is also home to many varities of birds. Kingfisher being the most famous one. Many birding tours are available for the bird watchers. Goa has the migratory birds, acquatic birds, nesting birds etc. Besides the known places for bird viewing the interiors of Goan villages are full of beautiful birds. The best time to enjoy the birds singing is early morning and evenings when it is the time for the birds to retire in their nests. The bird you see here was peeping through my window and I was very fortunate to catch it on my camera.

Another view of Shantadurga Temple, Fatorpa - Goa

Add ImageThis is another view of the Shantadurga Temple in Fatorpa. This temple is simply majestic. No matter how many shots you take, each picture is fabulous and gives one a notion of a different temple. By the way simply translated "Shantadurga" means "Goddess of Peace".
The maroon-white combination gives the temple an elegant looks. A typical feature of all Goan temples is the cool marble flooring and marble pillars in the interiors. We are not done yet with this majestic temple.

Shantadurga Temple Fatorpa, Quepem Goa

This is the Godess Shantadurga Temple in Fatorpa -Quepem South Goa. There is a reasonably good frequency of buses plying from the city of Margao (KTC or Kadamba Bustand) to Fatorpa. All buses going to Canacona (on the way to Palolem -remember?) go through Fatorpa.

Temples of Goa

Besides the lovely beaches Goa has many beautiful temples located all over Goa. Each temple has a unique identity and architecture. But the most popular temples happen to be the ones which are linked by public transport with the good frequency between the main towns to the temple site location.
Each of the temples are situated in serenic surroundings.
In the Quepem taluka if you are on the way to Palolem beach or Agonda beach or if you are returning from these beaches on the way back to the city of Margao, there are three lovely temples very close to each other. These are the Shantadurga temples at Fatorpa i.e Shantadurga temple Fatorpekarin, Shantadurga temple Cuncolimkarin and Shantadurga temple Balikarin.
These names literaly mean Godess Shantadurga of Fatorpa, Cuncolim and Bali respectively.
