Goa has a coastline of around 101 km. Rice with fish and curry is the staple diet in Goa. Goan food is considered incomplete without fish. Goan cuisine is famous for its rich variety of seafood dishes.

Sheela Restaurant and Bar
This restaurant is located on the way to Dabolim airport in the vicinity of the beautiful Jacinto Island. The main dishes include the recheado masala fish fry, oyster xacutti (pronounced Shakuti, it’s a Portuguese word), the good old fish-thali, roast beef tongue, semolina (locally called rava) fried fish and their unique dish Chicken Luizmarie.

Sharda Classic
This restaurant is located in the city of Panjim. They have a family type of ambience. Their menu comprises of home-made recipes. The catch of the day is scribbled on a black board. Their main menu is the fish thali, goan chicken and mutton thali, mutton suka and chicken xacutti. Thali literally means a dish or a plate.

Planet Hollywood Beach Resort
This is a new restaurant and is located in the village of Utorda in South Goa and has a variety. It serves North Indian, South Indian, Oriental and Western type seafood specialities. They also include Japanese dishes sushi and sashimi. The menu includes seafood paella, risotto, bisque, fish and prawns peri peri, balchao with sannas and moilee, mapas with appam and also items like the crab cake in chettinadu and Portuguese style.

Vasco Square
This restaurant is located in the port town of Vasco Da Gama. They have a Portuguese style ambience. They believe in good, simple and quality food. They serve Goan, North Indian, Indo-Chinese and continental cuisine. They rely on their fisherman who provide them the freshest of catch.

Copperleaf Restaurant
This restaurant is located in Alto Porvorim in North Goa. Their main item is the local palate the ‘lunch’. The lunch or the thali includes popular local preparations such as the prawn hooman (hooman is the local word for curry i.e the sause or the gravy), prawn kismore, teesroi sukhem, teesroi is the local word for clams, bhaji (vegetables), crab masala, fish amot-tik and a big piece of fried King Fish.

Souza Lobo
Located on the Calangute beach, Souza Lobo have been into existence for the past 80 plus years. It’s a must visit. They have an array of Goan dishes and also Indian, Continental, and Chinese cuisine. Some of the more popular dishes are the Souza Lobo Lobster Thermidor, prawn curry rice, masala fried fish, crab xacutti, beef steaks stuffed avocado, tandoori kingfish, rechado pomfret, stuffed avocado, pork vindaloo, masala fried calamari, pork sorpotel and a lot of dessert and drink options.

Daawat Multi-Cusine Restaurant With Bar
This one is located near Kala Academy in the city of Panjim. Their main item is the Calamari special either batter fried, golden fried or crispy fried. Other items on the menu include Pomfret Rechado,  Prawn Hooman, Chicken Cafreal and an options of desserts.

Martin’s Corner
This one is located in the village of Betalbatim in South Goa in the vicinity of Colva Beach. The menu is multi-cusine. They are well known to serve home-made type food. Among the local dishes are the Pomfret Caldin, Semolina fried mussels, King Fish Balchao, Prok Vindaloo, Crab Masala Fry and not to forget the dry mackerel and home-made lime and mango pickles.

The Black Sheep Bistro
The Black Sheep’s are located in Panjim. They like to do things differently. To the extent that they change their menu during the monsoon when there is a ban on fishing. Their delicacies include preparations of yellow-tail barracudas, tuna, local preparations such as the gaalmo, motiali, sardines. They announce their day’s special on facebook.

Soi is located in Candolim in North Goa. Soi in the local language means grated coconut. They specialize in traditional Goan recipes. The flavours are unique and distinct.
