Goa is one of the smallest Indian States on the west coast, approximately 650 kilometers south of Bombay. Goa is connected from Bombay by several flights, buses and trains and therefore one has a varied choice to make depending on convenience.
Goa was ruled by the Portuguese several years ago and the Portuguese legacy still lives on; the cuisine, the language, the architecture and the word "Susegad" derived from "Susegador". The local language is Konkani, English is widely spoken and easily understood. Even the Konkani language has several Portuguese words to name a few Janela-window, Sala-hall or living room, Lugar-room, Lata-tin or a can, Caderna-note book, Livre-book, Lapis-pencil and so on.
Rice and seafood constitutes the main diet of the Goans. Among the fruits mango, cashew, jackfruit, papaya, banana, pineapple, custard apple are available in plenty. Coconut trees are a common sight.
Having a long coastline means one thing -plenty of beaches and seashore to enjoy. Each beach is unique and has its own beauty. Most of the beaches are connected by road from the Goan cities. The key here is the lesser the transport frequency to the beach the more beautiful and pristine is the beach. Other tourist attractions are the temples and churches - several of them and the interiors of these holy places and simply majestic.
Hotel accommodation is available to suit various budgets. As a thumb rule any accommodation by the beache side or vicinity will be expensive, unless you opt to stay with the local fisherman right on the beach.
For sake of convenience reference is often made to North Goa and South Goa.
Unlike other Indian states, Goa is the least industrialized and this means no pollution, therefore Goa has many pharmaceutical companies.
Most Goan villages are Sleepy, if you want to get away from the hectic 9 to 5 life, Goa is the place to be in.
Seeing is believing and we would endeavor to get you photogrpahs of as many beaches, temples and churches as possible. Even the photographs of the local fruits and birds will be posted here so ahead and have a good sightseeing and enjoy.

How can you get at Utorda Beach?
Utorda is in South Goa, it does not have the connectivity like the other beaches and that's good it is unspoilt. Plenty hotel accommodations are available at Utorda. One can get there either from the city of Margao or from Verna. Lots of road transport to get to Margao or Verna. Margao to Verna is 15 min and another 15 min from Verna to Utorda. Once you are resident at Utorda for a short stay or longer, you can hire bicycles, scooters, motorcycles or cars that way you can be highly mobile. Riding a bicycle along the coastlne is just fun. I know you'll want to know hotel rates at Utorda or vicinity, I'll tell you but in my next post.
